LEAD THE RUN.

Athens Road Runners (“ARR”) is looking for 4 – 5 new Board members for 2025. The term is for 12 months and may be renewed for up to 36 months (3 years), at this point, a year must be taken off before applying for a Board position again. The time commitment for Board members is at least 12 hours per month.

Some skills that we seek in Board members are race and training run management, coaching, event planning, legal, accounting, budget management, communications, and volunteer management.

Currently, there are eleven members of the Board, four officers, the ARR Media and Communications Officer, and six at-large members.  The four officers of the Board are the president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.  For 2025, existing Board members will fill the first three roles.

We are looking for new Board members to fill the media and communications officer, treasurer, and at-large positions.  These positions are described below.

Position Descriptions

Treasurer: oversees the budget planning process; ensures adequate income available to achieve the budgeted expenses; safeguards the organizational assets; drafts financial policies for board approval; anticipates and reports financial problems; ensures the board receives regular and accurate financial statements; ensures federal, state, and local reporting takes place. The Treasurer serves as the Registered Agent for annual registration of the Corporation (the Club) with the Georgia Secretary of State.

Media and Communications Officer: writes and distributes content to promote the organization’s brand, activities, and membership; acts as a liaison between the organization, the public, and the media; ensures that all written materials and social media are within the clubs values.

Member-at-Large: serves as a liaison to the general membership. Duties change as needed to fulfill board requirements and address overall organizational goals. Members-at-large may lead a committee, such as an event committee (e.g., annual meeting, Milledge Mile) or spearhead new initiatives.
